Ancient "Barbarian" Lifestyle

Well, I was playing Rome: Total War just there and I looked at the way "barbarian" societies function. Seemingly, all of the big RP guilds are going to RP large, feudal societies. Could we perhaps counter that by playing as more tribal folk?

Orks are like "ME SMASH YOU DIE"

I mean like... noble barbarian cultures, trying to respect their surroundings, with their own gods, etc. A little like the Wildhammer dwarves in WoW without all the fancy engineering.

if this is the case, i think i would have lots of books that would aid in sorting out this type of society

only main drawback with this though is that we would have to be reliant on people willing to play a sort of 'barbaric' but peaceful society in which we are pretty much hunter-gatherers etc (i assume thats what you mean) whereas with the feudal society you are able to enforce IC laws that depict how the society works.

Pretty much it sounds like a very celtic / viking society but we will have to be privvy to a lot of religion / spiritualist actions which are going to heavily control the way we think IC and the way the society grows

Well it's not like Celts were anarchists, they still had kings. (And a High King I believe)
I've finished my HAVO with a paper on Celts and Picts. I think celts are a bit in between barbarians and feudalism. Although it depends on the time of course

It would actually be fun to create something more native american (not the tent type but the village building type) or celtic.

No ei, you do know that the Vikings where mostly farmers, but yet they had their gods <3 and how I love them

will we change from celtic or whatever to something else more 'modern' (with stone buildings/walls and such) when we get on an island?

Or we could take bits from all the cultures we like. Since a lot of us will have different backgrounds it's only logical for our town to be a bit multicultural.
Celts, Vikings, Medieval Britain, Native Americans, Greeks.
(Kilts, Beards, Stone and laws, respect for the land, philosophers)

To be honest, some more inspiration was me watching Asterix and Obelix take on Caesar yesterday (I wonder if any of you younglings would have seen it?). I love the Celtic culture!
